Cast Iron Cauldrons - Witchy Cauldrons are actually based most recently on a pot in Africa known as the 'potjie' - pronounced "poi-key". These cauldrons or cast iron cooking pots came to the African continent during the late middle ages with the Dutch and English settlers. The potjie has co-existed with African culture for centuries, refining this historic & age old pot style.
These modern replicas are carefully cast and fully PRE-SEASONED with a vegtable oil finish on the inside on all sizes for your convenience.

CARING FOR YOUR CAST IRON CAULDRON - Remember that *all* cauldrons have a vegitable oil finish on the inside when you buy them. Thus we recommend rinsing them with boiling water before use.
To clean your pot - Fill inside of the pot with warm water, let soak and then scour clean without using any soap. Always dry the pot over a heat source to prevent rusting.
Lightly grease the inside with either olive or vegetable oil. Leave a dry paper towel inside to absorb moisture.
All pots include lids except pot bellied and new age. Pot bellied comes with or without pentagram. All sized from 1/4 to 3x available without legs by request.

The Traditional Cooking Pot of South Africa, the size 3 pots lend themselves ideally to cooking for 4 - 6 people. The lids can be used for putting coals on top of if required as they have a great lip on them and so can be used in baking or used as an oven.
Cooking is normally done over hot coals or briquettes but these cast iron cauldrons can also be used on a gas range by straddling the legs over the burner. They are also great for cooking in the home fireplace - a really witchy treat!
These pots also have other uses such as planters, ornaments, and kindling and firewood receptacles at the fireplace.
All types of roasting can be done in these pots. The lids can be used while camping as a frying pan by inverting it and placing it in the hot coals - a great way to make bacon and eggs etc!
