I looked in my BOS and didn't have anything on boredom. That bothered
me as I certainly get the "blahs" and some spells would come in handy.
So I ran through the indexes of several of my books and did find a
couple of things in Z. Budapest's Grandmother Moon. I am quoting all
mostly directly.
Re boredom - Although it is often not recognized boredom is one of the
major feelings. We become bored because our spirits are hungry for some
stimulation, but we cannot find the one that is appropriate. So we are
stuck. What can we do with ourselves?? Boredom can be deadly because
idle hands often find some mischief to do. To free yourself from
boredom it's good to go hiking, get outdoors, get physical. If you have
gone through your repertoire of activities to escape boredom and it is
still there: Light a green candle, burn a little sage, and pray to your
most beloved ancestor to lead you back to your path, to help you regain
your balance, to show you a new direction. Say:
Dearest [ancestor's name], I feel so bored,
please make something move,
make something shake,
let my eyes be open
and see what is really there to see.
Repeat this three times. Boredom is the mother of invention. Something
good will come out of your boredom if you have the guts to stick it out,
explore it vigorously.
Re enthusiasm - This is a gift of good mental health, or perhaps a gift
of the stars. People who don't get enthusiastic miss a lot. This
feeling makes you glow, it makes your blood run faster, it is the fuel
that carries you to your goals. Motivation is another form of this
feeling.
For more enthusiasm: If you want to become more enthusiastic about your
life, do this ritual every morning just after you get up and every
evening just before you fall asleep.
Get a piece of green stone. It can be jasper, malachite, emerald, or
jade. Rub it with your hands over the smoke from a little incense
(your favorite) and say three times:
Green stone, green star, We grow, we reach,
We mind, we shine!
Carry the green stone on your body at all times in a little pouch. Even
sleep with it under your pillow.
She also had some recommendations for dealing with Apathy and
Depression, which seemed much stronger than what you are feeling.
This particular Z. Budapest book has a lot of tricks for dealing with
all kinds of emotions from anger to hate to revenge to love to envy -
you name it. The book is about seven years old but I only bought it
recently. Z. Budapest fans probably have this one memorized :-)
Several authors wrote that times of ennui or apathy can be times of
power. As during those times you can internalize your power, as it is
often a time when power cannot be sent out. Also, you don't seem to be
as influenced from things outside your body and aren't very easily
distracted and can focus on one thing more clearly than usual. As you
build up internal power they believe your creative juices get to flowing
and it can be a very powerful time for meditation and creative acts. Of
course, while you are quietly working on that internal power thing, I
don't know what your roomate and/or boyfriend might think :-) Alas,
they'd probably like you a bit less powerful and a bit more in touch.
